Depression

Depression can scientifically be defined as -  A mood disorder characterized by persistent sadness or inability to experience pleasure combined with other symptoms including poor concentration, indecisiveness, sleep problems, changes in appetite, and feelings of guilt and hopelessness. In simple words, you know that feeling of helplessness, worthlessness and loneliness ; that is depression. Now days depression is used as a slang. You cannot find a dress to wear for a party; you are depressed, you cannot solve a maths problem; you are depressed,Chennai Super Kings beat kings XI Punjab in the IPL; you are depressed. Depression is not a joke, it is a serious condition. That being said ,it does not mean that it cannot be taken care of. There is nothing WRONG with you and do not let anyone make you believe that there is. In today’s day and age we teenagers are under constant stress and pressure. There is the pressure of studies , pressure of making friends and just a pressure of being the best version of yourself. We are not only competing with the outside world , we are competing with ourselves! All this creates a great void in our chests which does not get filled no matter how much we cry or scream out in agony and frustration; and it will not get filled ,not unless we talk to someone about it. Talking to someone about our problems always helps, and the simple reason for that is that we are sharing a part of ourselves with someone. That will reduce the overwhelming loneliness that we feel. You do not necessarily have to seek professional help to talk to someone , just talk to someone you can trust, someone who is there with you through thick and thin. Occupy yourself in hobbies you enjoy. Everything does not have to be so complicated sometimes it is best to relax and just have fun. Holding on to repressed emotions for too long will not make the emotions disappear, they will only become worse so let go of them. It is okay to think about yourself sometimes. If someone does not treat you well you are under no obligation to go out of your way and be nice to that person. People Change, priorities change and we have to learn to accept that. As Wolfgang Riebe said ‘No one is perfect , that is why pencils have erasers.’ So erase memories that cause you pain. Living with pain does not make you stronger, coming out of it does.
Distance yourself from relationships that stem negative feelings, give up bad habits and take a deep breath. Things WILL get better. You are Not alone. This world needs You. Stay strong.

The Real Contagion: 2 Years Of Just Perspective Special

2 Years Of Just Perspective      After writing film reviews for a year I sought something  hard-hitting and ventured into slightly more serious territory through my blog “Just perspective” where I expressed my opinion on issues I felt strongly about. I have not written too many articles on this  blog as I wanted to keep it very personal. I only write about issues that have had a deep impact on me. Since  my blog is a passion project for me I did not want my approach towards writing it to be mechanical or monotonous and therefore I have refrained from being excessively active on it. On the two year anniversary of my blog I have written about the most relevant and talked about topic today , The COVID-19!                The Real Contagion                   So a guy in China ate a bat and now the whole world is stuck inside th...

Sushant Singh Rajput's Tragic Death And All That Followed.....

The Tragic Death Of Sushant Singh Rajput And All That Followed..... These past three months have been in equal parts shocking and heartbreaking. From what I saw and heard of him, Sushant Singh Rajput was a good human being with a brilliant mind. He was a passionate, hardworking actor and a curious soul. His death has impacted me more than I realised and more than I let myself realise. He visited our school a couple of years back and though I was never particularly a fan, I remember being enamoured by his charisma and unmistakable humility. The energy in the auditorium that day was palpable and he made each and every one of us swoon over his effortless charm. That day, I became a fan of the person he was.  I think people believe what they want to believe and so initially as painful as it was for me to grasp, I believed the general narrative that was being circulated in the media. I believed that there was nothing more to the incident than what was being presented....

A Woman’s Perspective -Manya Malhotra

We broke her spirit, we pushed her down, we forced her to drown in a pool of her insecurities and what justification did we give in our defence? She is a girl , she is a liability! Who made her this way in the first place? We did, our society did, our archaic traditions and mindset did. It is said by certain people that If you give birth to a girl you must have done something terribly wrong in your past life . I say, if this is your mindset, then forget about your past life you are definitely doing  something terribly wrong in your present  life. It is a fact, a rather cliched one, that without women there will be no more births and without no more births there will be no humanity . Yet , the provider of  life, is made to feel ashamed about the fact that she is a girl/ woman/ lady/ human! On his 16th birthday he got a brand new bike and on her 16th birthday she got a surprise visit from her would be in laws. On his 18th birthday he was granted his freedom and on he...
